When photographing people, I prefer not to worry too much about posing and ensuring that everyone is smiling and looking at the camera.  I feel that by allowing my subjects to be themselves, not only will the being to feel comfortable in front of the camera, the images captured will be more natural and will allow their personalities to shine through.
