At first, her mum Simone had booked in a maternity photo session at 37 weeks, but she went into labour early and it turned into a newborn session!

Some of you may have head about my cousin Elyse, who at 28 weeks of her pregnancy, was involved in a terrible car accident that saw her rushed to hospital with a shattered pelvis and the health of her unborn baby unknown. Her baby, a little boy, had to be delivered as a result of the accident.
Born 12 weeks early, and weighing little more than 1200g, little Levi was facing the fight of his life; to stay alive. Brave and strong, just like his beautiful mum, Levi spent the first couple of months of his life in the NICU at the Royal Women’s Hospital in Melbourne, while Elyse was in a different hospital, The Royal Melbourne, trying to get well herself.
It was a long haul for Elyse, Ben, Addison and Levi, and all of her family who were courageous as each day meant a day closer to Elyse and Levi being able to go home.
That day finally came, when Levi was 9 weeks old (Elyse would have still been 37 weeks pregnant).
Here are some images of Elyse and Levi taken during those first couple of weeks home (and a couple from those first few days in NICU).

The perfect age for a newborn photo shoot, Dean was a very new 11 days old and proved to be a little angel, blissfully unaware that he was being moved around throughout the session. I can’t get over his gorgeous long eyelashes, they would make any girl green with envy!

Jeremy and Elise came to see me this week with their gorgeous newborn baby Jack. Although he is only 12 days old, he was almost 10 pound when he was born at Mitcham Private Hospital!! Well done to Elise don’t you think! I still can’t get over the size of him after the little 6 pound babies I’ve had visit me during the past couple of weeks.
He was an amazing little man, quite content to curl up in the lovely warm studio while I snapped away.

I wanted to share a few images from the session, which is also the first newborn session with a baby girl that I’ve done in a while as everyone seems to be having baby boys! It was lovely to get out my pink blanket and try the new flower headband that I’d made!

I met little Luca and his family early on in January. He was just 10 days old and the perfect little model for me, sleeping through most of the session, just waking up occasionally for a milk-stop.

It’s hard to believe that Jess only gave birth a week ago when you see how great she looks in these photos – even more amazing given the size of Blair, who was 10 pounds!

It’s not very often that I get to photograph newborn twins, so I was very excited when Kelle contacted me. We did a collection of images of the family together, and then waited for the boys to drift off to sleep. We managed to try a few different shots of the boys, with my favourite being the one of the twins resting on Dustyn’s chest with the Aboriginal blanket that was made by the girls at Victorian Aboriginal Health Service in the background.
I love the warmth and adoration shown in the images of Kelle and Dustyn with the boys, it really sums up the love they have for them.

I’ve gotten to know Kim and Toby over the last few years, especially after having photographed their wedding at Nathania Springs in November last year. I was thrilled to know that Kim was expecting a baby, and even more excited when she asked me to photograph little Sienna this week.
Only 5 days old, Sienna was a wonderful little model, happy to allow me to take some shots of her stunning blue eyes and long eyelashes in between little naps, which enabled me to take some of the sleeping baby photos that I love so much.

Little Addison (I photographed her when she was only a brand new, 5 day old newborn earlier this year) came to visit me last week with her mum. I was very excited to be able to use my new backdrop that I’d bought from the USA! Something a little different from my usual vivid white backdrops, this one is a beautiful brown damask with polka dots, and goes perfectly with my spotted gum flooring.
Here are a few images of Addison who is growing into such beautiful little baby! I can’t believe she is six months old already.
